Luís Costa, PhD

Luís Costa comes from Lisbon, Portugal. He is a Biological Engineer (2004) and a Chemical Engineering Ph.D. (2008) from the University of Lisbon. In 2009, Luís started working at A4F – Algae for future (www.a4f.pt) and had several appointments: R&D engineer (2009), R&D project manager (2011), engineering project manager in the implementation of industrial scale microalgae production facilities (2011), Chief Operations Officer (2015). In 2020, Luís was appointed Executive Board Member and has been in charge of Operations and of Business Development at A4F. He is a specialist and consultant in industrial microalgae cultivation processes, as well as downstream and biorefinery processes. Luís was also appointed Board Member at Biotrend, a research-based Portuguese SME specialized in fermentation process optimization, since its integration within the A4F Group in 2020. He has also been a member of the EABA Steering Board since 2018.
