Dr. Marlise Santos

    She holds a degree in Pharmacy from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1988), specialization in Industrial Pharmacy, and a Master’s degree in Pharmacy from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1993). She completed her Ph.D. at Kings College London University of London (2006) and is pursuing a Postdoctoral degree in Entrepreneurship at UFCSPA with a scholarship from CNPq.
    She was a faculty member at PUCRS, where she taught in the undergraduate Pharmacy program and in the Master’s programs in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and Electrical Engineering. She coordinated the Aerospace Pharmacy Lab Joan Vernikos. With 22 years of experience in research in the field of Aerospace Pharmacy, she has primarily focused on simulated hypergravity, simulated microgravity, cell culture, drug synthesis, medicinal plants, and pharmaceutical technology (nanotechnology).
    She is the Coordinator of Aerospace Pharmacy and Telepharmacy at the British company InnovaSpace, Space without Borders. She is an international speaker in the areas of Telepharmacy and Aerospace Pharmacy. She has developed research projects in the area of early assessment of neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. She is a member of the International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth (ISfTeH) and a mentor and creator of the Telepharmacy area at ISfTeH. She is a member of the Space 4 Women Group and the Founder of the Startup MyDIGICARE for remote pharmaceutical care. She is a guest professor in the Postgraduate Program in Aerospace Medicine at Estácio de Sá University. She is one of the editors of the Handbook of Space Pharmaceuticals, released in April 2022, by Springer Publisher.
