Ana Sebastião, PhD

    Ana Sebastião is a Full Professor and Director of the Institute of Pharmacology and Neurosciences at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Lisbon. She is a Research Unit Director at Instituto de Medicina Molecular (iMM) and Handling Editor of Journal of Neurochemistry. Ana Sebastião graduated from Faculdade de Ciências, Universidade de Lisboa in 1982 in Biology and obtained a Ph.D. in Biochemistry/Cell Physiology from Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia, Universidade Nova de Lisboa in 1987. She has been President of the Portuguese Society for Phamacology (2000-2003), President of the Portuguese Society for Neuroscience (2003 2007), Member of the Executive Committee of EPHAR (2002-2008), Director of the Mind-Brain College of the University of Lisbon (2015 2018) and Vice-dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Lisbon. Currently, Ana Sebastião is leading the International Research Project “Epileptogenesis and Epilepsy Network: from genes, synapses and circuitries to pave the way for novel drugs and strategies” (EpiEpiNet) and the National Research Project “Does context matter for drug action? Contextual dependency of the long-lasting neurobiological and antidepressant actions of psilocybin”.
