João Saavedra

João Saavedra completed the bachelor’s (2021) and master’s (2023) degrees in Biological Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico, which provided the opportunity to expand his knowledge and curiosity in chemistry, biotechnology and engineering. During the master’s thesis, João Saavedra conducted research work on the downstream processing of bacteriophages’ preparations for clinical applications at the Institute for Bioengineering and Biosciences (iBB).

Other relevant activities include the participation in the Summer Camp of the Beijing University of Chemical Technology (07/2019), acting as the students’ representative (2021/22 and 2022/2023), representing iBB at the 3rd Chem&BioChem Students Meeting at the Faculty of Sciences (13/07/2023), and serving as Teaching Assistant in the laboratory courses of Biological Reactors (MSc in Biological Engineering, 09/2022-02/2024).

Besides a love for science, João Saavedra is also keenly interested in classical music, reading and learning French.
