Hélder Tavares
Hélder Tavares started his academic course at IST in 2015, having finished his MSc in Biological Engineering in 2021. Hélder Tavares joined SCERG, IBB, in the same year, and is currently a PhD student working in the field of cellular agriculture, despite having also worked in cell therapy upon his arrival at SCERG. His current work revolves around cultivating bovine and chicken cells in vitro to develop scalable processes for the manufacture of cultivated meat products. Hélder is a co-founder and co-president of “The University of Lisbon Alt Protein Project,” a GFI program that aims to promote alternative proteins. Hélder is also a founding member of the Portuguese Association for the Development of Cellular Agriculture.
