Eng. Ana Rita Gomes

Ana Rita Gomes has a degree in Biological Engineering, Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon (2016). Currently, she is doing the PhD in Bioengineering – Regenerative Medicine, Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon. She works in the field of tissue and process engineering strategies and neurodevelopmental disorders, with research focusing on the development of 3D region specific brain organoids from human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs). In particular, the 3D organoids are used to model neurodevelopmental disorder, mainly Rett Syndrome (RTT), affecting multiple neuronal subtypes originated from forebrain sub-region.
