Eng. Ana Rita Varela

My name is Ana Rita Varela, I’m 24 years old, and I have a degree in Bioengineering, with a specialization in Biomedical Engineering. I recently completed a master’s degree in Bioengineering with a focus on Regenerative and Precision Medicine. During my academic journey, I interned in the United States, where I conducted a thesis project focused on the isolation and in vitro characterization of salivary progenitor cells, aiming to establish a stem cell therapy to treat complications of radiotherapy in patients with head and neck cancer. Driven by my passion for innovation and health communication, since March 2024, I have been part of the Trainee program at AstraZeneca Portugal, joining the Marketing team in the Oncology area.
