Gabriel T. Velloso, PhD
Gabriel T. Velloso started off as an English teacher in Brazil, shortly before getting an undergraduate degree in Translation. As a Translator and Interpreter, he already showed interest in Science and Society, having worked a few times with NASA. This lead to an invitation to work at the World Future Society in Bethesda, MD, USA.
Prior to completing one year in the USA, Gabriel was accepted into a post-graduation programme in Portugal, as the first foreigner student in the course. It was the Foresight, Strategy and Innovation programme at ISEG (Lisbon School of Economics and Management), currently at the University of Lisbon (UL). With this degree in hand, Gabriel moved on straight to the Doctoral programme in Technology Assessment (focusing on BCIs – Brain-computer Interfaces) at the Interdisciplinary Centre of Social Sciences (CICS.NOVA) part of the New University of Lisbon (UNL).
A couple of years later, as part of a joint initiative between UNL and the Karlsruher Institute of Technology (KIT), Gabriel joined ITAS (Institute of Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis) in Germany where he could proceed with his thesis at the same time he was able to gain experience working with other research projects. Shortly before the pandemic Gabriel returned to Brazil where he is now in the final stages of his Doctoral programme.
