Suzana Ferreira-Dias is Associate Professor with habilitation at the School of Agriculture (Instituto Superior de Agronomia, ISA) of the University of Lisbon (Universidade de Lisboa, ULisboa), Lisbon, Portugal.
She got her graduation in Agro-Industry Engineering at ISA, her Master in Biotechnology (Biochemical Engineering) at the School of Engineering (Instituto Superior Técnico, ULisboa), and her PhD in Agro-Industry Engineering, ISA.

She has been responsible for lecturing courses on Food Engineering (eg. Unit operations I and II, Sensory Analysis, Technology of Oils and Fats) as well as for specific modules of courses of graduation and MSc at ISA (e.g. Biotechnology, Food Technology), or in other national or international colleges.

Concerning Research, Suzana Ferreira-Dias has been working in the fields of Food Engineering and Bioenergy. Her research expertise has been focused on Food science and engineering, namely on the technology/biotechnology of oils and fats. She has been working mainly on (i) biocatalysis in non-conventional media to produce structured lipids, emulsifiers and flavours for the Food and Pharmaceutical Industries, as well as biodiesel from non-edible oils, (ii) olive oil and other vegetable oils, (iii) enzyme-catalysed production of glucose and prebiotics from ligno-cellulosic materials, under the circular economy and biorefinery concepts.
