Mariana Almeida, MSc
During a five years degree in Biotechnology Engineering, I had the opportunity to learn and develop my skills in fundamental knowledge in the field of Biotechnology and Molecular Biology. Later on, I moved to Barcelona an undertake a Master degree in Biomedicine at the Universitat de Barcelona. During almost 7 years in this city, I pursued a career in Biomedical Research at the Institut for Research In Biomedicine (IRB, Cell Signalling Lab), whereas my work was focused on metabolic diseases. As well as obtaining practical experience of cutting-edge techniques during my research project, I improved my autonomous problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Following this period, I returned to Portugal where I had more than 7 years of R&D and scientific project management experience in a Biotech startup – ECBio, focused on stem cell therapies.
Presently, in my current position at Laboratório Medinfar as Innovation & Pharmaceutical Development Manager, I coordinate the company strategic innovation model, developing per interactions with external experts and researchers, fitted with our portfolio strategy. Also, and as a team coordinator, I provide a continuous clinical & scientific support, contributing to new projects and product launches.
