ALS Controlvet

    Graduated in Biochemistry in 2008, Master in Biochemistry in 2010 and PhD in Biomedicine in 2014 by the University of Beira Interior (UBI, Covilhã, Portugal).
    During her scientific career, she developed research work in the area of Oncobiology, with an impact on the role of steroidal sex hormones in the tumorigenesis of reproductive tissues, namely breast and prostate, at the Research Center for Health Sciences (CICS) at UBI,
    partially in collaboration with the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS) in Porto.
    Currently, she is the Technical Responsible for the Oligonucleotide and Kits Production Unit and since 2019 she has assumed the position of Head of Molecular Biology Laboratory at ALS Controlvet (Tondela, Portugal), having enrolled the role of Head of the Process of Management of Ideas Process from 2018 to 2019 and since 2016 that is part of the company staff. She is responsible for supervising and carrying out all laboratory technical tasks or
    laboratory management tasks, as well as investigating, developing, implementing and validating techniques, test methods and / or new products.
    As a researcher at ALS Controlvet, she actively participated in several funded projects, namely: ALS SARS-COV-2 detection: Autonomous Laboratory Solution for Covid-19 testing (Project code | 48089), Tracking Covid-19 in wastewaters (POCI-01-02B7 -FEDER-069225), SusPhage: Development of a phage-based product to control Escherichia coli associated post-weaning diarrhea in piglets (POCI-01-0247-FEDER-033679) and PHAGOVET: A cost-effective solution for controlling Salmonella and Escherichia coli in poultry production (H2020 Grant agreement ID: 820523), and the Allergen Screen (POCI-01-0247-FEDER-023954). More recently, she actively worked on the development, implementation and validation of RT-PCR methods for the diagnosis of SARS-COV-2 in humans, surfaces and wastewater, on COVID19
    testing and, in the development of a Portuguese Real-Time PCR kit with CE / IVD certification.
    She is the author of 1 chapter of a scientific book, of 5 scientific publications and co-author of 6, having also supervised 4 internship projects.
