Dr. Bernardo Caniço

    Dr. Bernardo Caniço has a BSc in Biology (FCUL) and a MSc in Microbiology (IST). He did his master thesis in the Biological Sciences Research group at the Institute of Bioengineering and Biosciences (IBB) – IST, under the supervision of Professor Arsénio Fialho and Doctor Nuno Bernardes. His thesis involved the study of a bacterial protein with anticancer activity. In September 2016, Dr. Bernardo was awarded with a scholarship (BI) at the Macromolecular Crystallography unit in ITQB, where he worked under the supervision of Doctor Elin Moe until September 2017, and its main focus was Structural Biology. More specifically, the goal was to characterize proteins that are involved in DNA repair mechanisms. In September 2017, Dr. Bernardo joined Hovione as an Analyst, and is currently working in the Analytical Method Validation group at this company.
