Isabel Sá Correia is a Full Professor at the Department of Bioengineering, Instituto Superior Técnico (IST). She graduated in Chemical Engineering from IST, where she also obtained her PhD in Yeast biology. Later, she carried out post-doctoral studies in Pseudomonas molecular biology at the Medical Center, University of Illinois at Chicago. Her research interests are in the fields of Molecular Microbiology and Functional and Comparative Genomics. She is member of the directive board of Institute for Bioengineering and Biosciences (iBB) and the Scientific Coordinator of the Biological Sciences Research Group (BSRG). She is the coordinator of the master’s programmes of Biotechnology and Microbiology and of the PhD programme in Biotechnology and Biosciences at IST, member of the General Council of Universidade de Lisboa and the President of the Portuguese Society for Microbiology (SPM).
