Elena Baena González

Elena Baena González

Elena Baena González is currently the principal investigator of the Laboratory of Plant Stress Signaling at Gulbenkian Science Institute. From 2002 to 2008, Elena worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Molecular Biology in Jen Sheen Laboratory in Boston, USA and also in the Department of Genetics Energy and sugar signaling during stress and development in Arabidopsis thaliana at Harvard Medical School. Elena’s academic background counts with a MSc in Biology (Genetics) at the University of Oulu in Finland, completed in 1995 and a PhD in Plant Physiology and Molecular Biology at the University of Turku in Finland, completed in 2002. In this event, she’ll speak about shaping plant growth and development via SnRK1 kinases, the strategies that her research team has been using, and the progress in the molecular dissection of the SnRK1 signaling pathway, as a first step towards understanding how plant growth is modified in response to the environment.
